Claire's Back Close To Home

IT was back to work as normal for Brookside's Claire Sweeney today.

The star returned to the Close for the first time since her week-long stay in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Claire, who plays Lyndsey Corkhill in the soap, said she was glad to be back in Liverpool: "It's nice to be home and have a chance to do my washing!

"I really missed everyone, so it was great to see my mates, family and work friends again."

Claire was hot favourite to win the fly-on-the wall gameshow. But it was deadpan comic Jack Dee, 39, who won, helping to raise more than 500,000 for Comic Relief.

Since the show Claire admits she has had lots of offers for work. But she denied reports that she would be leaving the Channel Four soap to front a new version of ITV's Don't Try This At Home.

She said: "I've had loads of offers, but my loyalties are to Brookside, my contract is not up until October and Phil Redmond is still my boss.

"Brookside have been brilliant letting me have time off and I just want to say thank you to them for letting me do it."

She said she was looking forward to getting back to acting: "I haven't worked for more than two weeks now, but I will be wearing my blue uniform again from today."

In the house with her were TV presenters Vanessa Feltz and Anthea Turner, comedian Jack Dee, Boyzone singer Keith Duffy and ex-boxer Chris Eubank.

She said: "I thought I would be lost without my mobile phone, but having no phone, no TV and no music was actually totally destressing.

"I wouldn't mind going back for another week's holiday next year."
