Brookside Actress Claire Sweeney To Sign Recording Contract
Claire, who captured the spotlight on the Comic Relief celebrity edition of Big Brother, is being represented by Jonathan Shalit, the man who made opera divette Charlotte Church a household name.
“Charlotte had the voice of an angel and so does Claire,” says Shalit. “She’s got a classic voice like Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler. You could say she’s a female Frank Sinatra.”
This news comes on the heels of Claire’s lucrative deal to star in Challenge Of A Lifetime, the daredevil programme in which people attempt to confront their greatest fears. ITV bosses have insured her for £20 million as she’ll be required to perform death-defying stunts. TV executives chose Claire when original presenter Davina McCall of Don’t Try This At Home announced she was pregnant.
“I owe everything to Big Brother,” Claire said. “I had nothing to lose in there because I wasn’t as high-profile as anyone else.” Until now.
